Like Rahu Kaal, Choghadiya also splits the day into parts, but its scope is wider than Rahu Kaal alone.

How Choghadiya is structured

Both day and night are each split into eight equal parts. Each part gets a name (Amrit, Shubh, Labh, Char, Rog, Kaal, Udveg) and a quality (auspicious, inauspicious, or mixed).

What to do in which Choghadiya

Amrit, Shubh and Labh are generally read as good for new work. Rog, Kaal and Udveg call for more caution. Char is considered a mixed-result period. For the single most auspicious window in a day, see Abhijit Muhurat instead.

Separate sequences for day and night

The daytime Choghadiya sequence runs differently from the nighttime one, so if something needs to happen at night, the night’s Choghadiya is what to check.
