A tarot deck isn’t a prediction machine. It’s a traditional tool for reflection and self-inquiry.
How the deck is built
A tarot deck has 78 cards in total: 22 Major Arcana (big life themes like the Fool, the Magician, Death, the Sun) and 56 Minor Arcana (everyday situations, split across four suits: Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles).
Every card has a story
Each card carries a base meaning, but that meaning only completes itself in combination with the position it lands in on a spread. That’s why the same card can read differently depending on the layout.
The easiest spreads to start with
For new readers, a “Card of the Day” (one card) or a 3-card spread (past, present, future) is the simplest place to begin. The Celtic Cross is the more detailed option once you’re comfortable with the basics.
