The Moon changes sign every day
The Moon moves into a new zodiac sign roughly every two and a quarter days. For each rashi, the calculation checks how many houses away the Moon is from that sign on a given day, this is called Chandra Bala.
Favourable and testing positions
Classical texts treat certain Moon positions (1st, 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th, 11th house from the sign) as favourable. Other positions generally call for a bit more patience.
