Generating a kundli for a birth in a foreign city works the same way as for a birth in India, provided a few details are entered carefully. Small mistakes here are common and easy to avoid.
Get the exact coordinates, not just the city name
Many tools only need a city name and look up coordinates automatically, but for smaller towns, confirm the coordinates match the actual hospital or home location rather than a nearby larger city, since even a modest distance can shift some fine calculations.
Use the correct historical time zone
Time zone rules change over the decades in some countries (daylight saving start and end dates have shifted, and a few countries have changed their time zone entirely). Use the time zone rule that was actually in effect on the birth date, not today’s rule.
Confirm the birth time source
A hospital-recorded birth time is generally more reliable than a family’s remembered estimate. If only an estimate exists, treat lagna-based results (which shift every two hours) with more caution than Moon-sign and nakshatra results, which are more stable across a few hours.
Double-check AM/PM and 24-hour format
A surprising number of chart errors come from a birth time entered as AM when it was PM, or vice versa, especially when converting from a birth certificate that uses a different time format.
Generate your chart
Use the kundli tool with your exact birth date, time and city; it works the same way for any location worldwide.
